Day 23

August 23, 2009

But it is written, EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. ~1 Corinthians 2:9-10

Day 22

August 22, 2009

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ~2 Timothy 3:14-15

Day 21

August 21, 2009

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. ~Proverbs 22:6

Day 20

August 20, 2009

My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. ~Proverbs 3:11-12

Day 19

August 19, 2009

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. ~Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Parents are to teach their children the ways of the Lord at all times of they day and their lives. They are to talk to their children about the Lord when they sit in the house, go about their day, at bedtime, and when awake in the morning.

Day 17

August 17, 2009

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. ~Isaiah 7:18

Day 16

August 16, 2009

Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. ~Luke 4:40

Day 15

August 15, 2009

For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. ~Proverbs 4:3-4

Children are most influenced by their parents in their home. Are you willing to let them grow up to be just like you?! If not, repent and ask God to help you.

Day 14

August 14, 2009

And he took a child, and set in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. ~Mark 9:36-37

Day 13

August 13, 2009

You don't see these posted much anymore these days. First the government took God out of our schools when we were told not to pray in school anymore. They say it violates our rights to freedom from religion. The constitution states that there is to be a separation of church and state. Most of America have interprets this incorrectly. What our founding fathers meant by this was that the government could not have a government church. They meant that we were all free to be involved with whatever religion we wanted to. People came to this country for this reason. They were free to believe what they wanted to believe and not be constrained by the government. There is a day coming for America when we will be constrained by a government religion/church, or lack there of. There is a day coming when we will no longer be free. We have done this to ourselves. God has abandoned America because we have abandoned Him. God has allowed us to all go our own way, according to Acts 14:16 [Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.] Our own sinful nature and desires have brought us to this point. We are going to be judged, as a nation, for this.

But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. That haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: that their time should have endured for ever. He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied them. ~Psalm 81:11-16

So when I see these commandments posted, I stop and take them in because there is a day coming when we will not see them in public nor be able to read them. We will have to remember them.

Day 12

August 12, 2009

Just as this giraffe does not know what lies over the hill, we do not know what will happen to use tomorrow let alone next week. When I look at this picture, I am reminded that God is in control of my life and that only He knows what lies ahead. He is the navigator of my life, not me or anyone else. I am also reminded of the story of the widow and the oil found in 2 Kings 4:1-7. We heard a message on this very story tonight. The story reads as follows...

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into the vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

The woman in this story is not named. I think that is because she could be anyone of us. She has just lost her husband who left her a huge debt and is about to lose her sons because of that debt. I don’t know about you, but that puts my problems into better perspective. She just lost her husband! I may have lost my temper, or car keys, or an important piece of paper. BUT she lost her husband! My loses do not matter compared to hers. Our response to our problem is the real issue here, not the problem!

Instead of turning to drugs, alcohol, or any other corrupt thing, she turns to Elisha, a man of God!! She is told to sell her ONLY pot of oil! This pot is not a large pot. The oil in it probably does not amount to anymore than what is left after we fry bacon.

Think for a moment about what you would have done. She has just been told to collect empty pots, go into a private place and divide the small amount oil, and sell it. She did what she was told to out of faith! Do you have that kind of faith?!

We must simply, as she did, trust God and obey Him. She trusted that what Elisha said to do and she obeyed it. We must spend that much needed private time with God every day! She spent the private time pouring the oil into the pots.

If she had more pots, the oil would have continued to be poured out in abundance. She was limited on pots, so the oil stopped flowing. Just think about the blessing God can give us if we are prepared for it. She was not prepared for this problem, let alone for the blessings that would come out of it.

God worked out her problem; not her, not her sons, not Elisha, but God! He can work out any problem you have, too. He knows where you will be tomorrow, ten years from now, 100 years from now. He knows what trials you will face and the blessings you will reap from those trials. Just imagine how much more those blessings will be if you are ready for them! We must spend time with Him every day in private prayer and in His word to get prepared for those times in our lives.

Are you ready?!

Remember that to get something you have never had before, you must do something you have never done before.

Day 11

August 11, 2009

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! ~Isaiah 52:7

Day 10

August 10, 2009

The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. ~Nahum 1:3

Day 9

August 9, 2009

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. ~John 13:14-16

Beautiful morning view. As if texting and driving was not bad enough, let's try photographing and driving. I just held the ccamera up and pushed the button a couple times and this was the result.
